A traditional game

Tours are amazing for bringing strangers together in the enjoyment of the moment. For the most part those friendships are fleeting. Some make it past a few emails, some stand the test of time. But for the duration of the tour people talk, share ideas, knowledge, experiences. We get closer and then at the end of the tour we all go our own way. Sometimes we meet again along the way. It's an opportunity to let go and accept these moments of friendship as the ephemeral gifts that they are.

New friend?

One of the advantages of traveling solo is that most people find it hard to believe.  The reality is that you end up meeting a lot of people along the way, some casually, others become friends for life. That day I’d met a lovely Norwegian couple who arrived at the same cafe at the same time I did. We sat at the same table and chatted as we drank our teas. They left before I did. Later when I went to pay my bill, the waiter had assumed we were all together!
